Biographical Sketch of
Minister Derrick Wayne Webster

Derrick Webster is the son of Dr. and Mrs. James A. Webster. He is the Minister of Music at Oak Ridge First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, N.C. He has served in this role since 1984. As the Minister of Music he oversees the entire Music and Fine Arts Department at the Oak Ridge Church. Along with this honor, have come many more accomplishments both spiritual and professional.

Minister Webster is a graduate of Shaw University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion and Philosophy. He also has a Doctoral Degree in Sacred Church Music from Bethlehem Bible College in Roanoke, Va. Most recently he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Living Epistle Bible College.

Derrick Webster gives freely of his time and talents back to the community by serving on numerous boards and committees. Currently he serves on the Board of Trustees at Bethlehem Bible College and Living Epistle Bible College. He also serves on the Evangelism Committee and is an Instructor for the Christian Education Department of the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Inc. Minister Webster is a member of the Hampton Minister’s Conference and Music Guild, a Musician at Union Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, N.C. and the former Chief Music Director for the High Point Educational & Missionary Baptist Association, Inc. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Guilford County Homeownership Center working with the NC Foreclosure Prevention Fund.

Minister Webster’s spiritual gifts have taken him across the country teaching and conducting worship workshops, music institutes, and training other musicians in the order of God as it relates to worship, work, and witness. Dr. Webster is always ready to share and be used by God so in the end God will be glorified, people will be edified, and the devil will be terrified. Minister Webster is an anointed yielded vessel set aside for the Master’s use. His motto is that “I am that I am by the grace of God.”

Minister Webster most recently was featured on TCT Television Network, and was invited by the UNCF to be the opening act for music extraordinaire Kim Burrell. He was also featured as the special guest at the High Point University Norcross Graduate School Deans Dinner. Dr. Webster is most proud of the fact that he was one of the two African American organist invited to do a special organ recital at Old Salem on their famous Historic Tannenberg Organ.

Minister Webster's ministry also has taken him abroad and he's ministered at in Monrovia, Liberia West Africa at the Historic Providence Baptist Church. His latest accomplishment is he was named "Man Of The Year" in 2018 by the Greensboro Chapter of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club, Inc. for his overall service to the residents of Greensboro, NC. Minister Webster will release his first CD, entitled, "Derrick Webster and Friends" It's set to be released in March of 2018.

Minister Webster is married to the former Nicole S. Bivens, and they are the proud parents of Madison Gabriella Webster and they reside in Colfax, NC..
